George C. Keena, 94, of Fergus Falls died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
He was born April 19, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to Jacob and Ann Keena. After graduating from high school, George enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge he attended the North Dakota Agricultural School in Fargo where he belonged to the ROTC and was a 1st Lt. upon graduating from its military science program. He became a member of the National Guard. He then attended Northwestern Bible School in Minneapolis where he met his future wife. George was united in marriage to Grace Erickson on December 23, 1955. In 1960, George and Grace moved to Mississippi where he earned his bachelor's degree in teaching from Mississippi College. He began teaching secondary level education in public and parochial schools. They moved to Fargo in 1975 to be closer to Grace's parents. George and Grace moved to Fergus Falls and eventually moved into the Alcott Manor. He became a resident of the Broen Home in August of 2012.
George is survived by his wife, Grace of Fergus Falls and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
