George Morgan

George Morgan, 79, of Battle Lake died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at his residence.

George Peter Morgan was born September 13, 1934 to Thomas and Alice (Clancy) Morgan in Olivia, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. George graduated from Olivia High School in 1952. He attended the U of M in Minneapolis and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1956, and graduated in 1958 from the College of Veterinarian Medicine.

George served two years in Duluth in the US Air Force as a captain. He spent two years as a veterinarian in the Ortonville Veterinary Clinic. On October 13, 1962 George married Kathleen Sester at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville. In June of 1962 they moved to Battle Lake, where he owned and operated the Battle Lake Veterinary Clinic from 1962 to 1992, working part time from 1992 to 1994. He loved his grandkids and loved to go fishing with them. George enjoyed fishing, golfing and talking with friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Alice Morgan, brothers Paul and Patrick Morgan and sisters, Mary Morgan Newman and Ann Morgan Mack.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy and two sons, Michael (Lisa) of Spring, TX and Brad (Sarah) of Frazee; four grandchildren, Kaitlin, Ellie, Ethan and Aidan; sisters, Margaret (Keith) Dyre of Bella Vista, AR and Donna (Lynn) Wulf, Waconia; brothers-in-law Thomas Mack of Olivia and Thomas Newman of Denver, CO; sisters-in-law Rita Morgan of Elmore and Mary Ann Morgan of Aptos, CA; many relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11 AM, Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Battle Lake, MN

Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church

Clergy: Father LeRoy Schik

Military Rites: Minnesota National Guard

Cemetery: Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Cemetery, Battle Lake, MN
