Gertrude "Trudy" Cooper, 90 formerly of Fargo, ND, died Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Lakeview Senior Living in Battle Lake, MN
Trudy was born September 22, 1922 in Webster, SD to John and Inga (Rasmussen) Lardy. She attended school in Roslyn and Webster, SD.
During World War II, she moved to California to work in an aircraft defense plant. On January 20, 1945, Trudy married Lawrence (Bill) Cooper in Los Angeles, California where he was in the US Navy. Trudy and Bill made their home in Webster before moving to Fargo in 1957. They were married for 58 years when Bill passed away in 2003. Trudy was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo for 53 years.
Mother, ever the farm girl, always had a beautiful flower garden. She was an excellent cook and we always looked forward to her meals, especially holiday dinners. Mom loved music; Sunday night was for Lawrence Welk. She loved to dance. She was a loving, nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In 2010 Trudy moved to The Lakeview Senior Living Apartments in Battle Lake, MN to be closer to her daughter. She made many dear friends there.
Trudy is survived by her children, Julie (Ted) Novetzke of Henning, MN, Barb (Tom) Willems of Maplewood, MN, John of Excelsior, MN and Mark of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Lori Taylor of Fargo, ND, Jenifer Braun of Battle Lake, MN, Paul (Adrienne Weingart) Willems, Bloomington, MN, Kjersti Cooper of Fort Worth, TX, Brigette (Scott) Fronk, Lakeville, MN, Bonnie Martinson, Maple Grove, MN; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Braun, Alysa Willems, Makaila and Kyllie Weingart, Dustin and Jordan Fronk, Karly and Evan Martinson, Brady and Sam Braun; sisters-in-law, Marguerite Waligoske and Orlean Lardy; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
