Gertrude A. Jensen (née Jorgensen)

May 30, 2024

Gert Jensen, age 83, of Underwood, MN passed away on May 30, 2024, at LB Broen Home in Fergus Falls, MN. She was born on December 23, 1940, to Anton & Signe (Haukebo) Jorgensen at the Fergus Falls Hospital.

Gert was a devout Lutheran and graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1958.

She grew up on her family's farm in rural Underwood, and after high school moved to the Twin Cities where she married James Langenfeld and had her son, Jon. She later went on to marry Michael Jensen, and had her daughter, Julie. Over the years, she had held various office jobs, was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Battle Lake and was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 489. However, nothing fulfilled her life more than her family, writing poetry, and animals. She was always surrounded by animals, from wild baby deer to an unimaginable number of dogs, and anything in between.

Gert is preceded in death by her parents Anton & Signe, her sister Marlys, her many uncles, and most recently, her aunt, Ellen Johnson of Battle Lake, along with countless loved ones.

She is survived by her brother, Gerald (Sharlene) Jorgensen; her children, Jon (Carol) Langenfeld and Julie Jensen; her grandchildren, Natalie, Shannon, Michaelah, and Antonia; her great-grandchildren, Donovan, Caleb, and Marley; her niece, Kathy (Tim) Jorgensen-Massmen, and nephew Michael (Denise) Jorgensen, as well as many other family and friends.

We would like to thank LB Broen Home and Knute Nelson Hospice for their wonderful care.

There will be no public visitation.

In lieu of flowers or memorials, Gert’s family would ask that you donate to the Otter Tail County Humane Society in Fergus Falls, MN.
