Gladys Salmonson

June 27, 1925 — September 28, 2013

Gladys Salomonson, 88 of Battle Lake died Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Gladys Loraine Salomonson was born on June 27, 1925 in Rose City, Minnesota the daughter of William and Katie (Stark) Wheeler. She was confirmed in the Evangelical Church in Deer Creek. Gladys attended the Spruce Lawn Country School through the eighth grade and then continued her education at the Deer Creek High School completing the tenth grade.

Gladys and Glenn Salomonson were married on May 6, 1950 in Deer Creek. After their marriage they lived in Battle Lake, where she was a homemaker and worked for the Battle Lake Nursing Home for many years as a Nurses Aid. Gladys enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, word searches and watching Lawrence Welk and Wheel of Fortune. Gladys enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren, they will never forget her ginger cookies.

She is survived by her nine children, Bonnie (Ray) Hanson and Sue (Butch) Taylor both of Battle Lake, Jim (Cathy) Salomonson and Bill (Elaine) Salomonson both of Fergus Falls, Don Salomonson of Battle Lake, Tom Salomonson and Rick Salomonson both of Shakopee, Linda (Skip) Boyden of Grand Prairie, Texas and Pat (Terry) Butcher of Fergus Falls; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Hallstrom of Wadena and Marie (Pidge) Truax of Deer Creek; also by numerous relatives and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn on May 21, 1987; parents, William and Katie Wheeler; two brothers, Howard and Glen Wheeler.

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm, Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake

Visitation: one hour prior to the service.

Clergy: Reverend Ali Haugerud

Interment: Silent Vale Cemetery, rural Underwood
