Hattie Holthusen, 93, of Fergus Falls, died Friday, August 22, 2014 at Pioneer Care.
Hattie Minnie Bertha Holthusen was born on May 22, 1921 in Breckenridge, MN to George and Dorothy (Schmidt) Hansen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Campbell. She grew up in Wilkin County and attended the District 76 country school. On November 21, 1939, she was united in marriage to Carl Holthusen in Elizabeth, MN. They moved from the farm by Elizabeth to Pelican Rapids in 1972. In 1976, Hattie attended nurse's training and became an LPN. She worked at various nursing homes. In 2006, Hattie and Carl moved to Fergus Falls residing at Park Gardens until December of 2013 when she moved in to the Pioneer Care Center. Carl passed away in 2007. She enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, puzzles and dancing.
Hattie is survived by her daughter, Ilene (Marlow) Tollefson of Fergus Falls, her son, David (Doris) Holthusen of Becker, MN; grandchildren: Cindy (Mike) Kunde of Moorhead, Connie (Bob) Christiansen of Austin, MN, Cathy (Dan) Lee of Brainerd, Cheri (Chris) Lehse of South Haven, MN, Mark Holthusen of Vadnais Heights, MN, Dana Norgren of Austin, TX and Jon (Kristine) Holthusen of Clearwater; great-grandchildren: Tyler (Erin) Christiansen and Derek Christiansen of Des Moines, IA, Stephanie (Jordan) Kunde Wright of Chicago, Kristopher (fiancé Isabel) Kunde of Germany, Dylan and Jenna Lee of Brainerd, Parker and Conner Lehse of South Haven, MN, Madison Holthusen of Vadnais Heights and Charles Holthusen of Clearwater. Hattie was very excited to become a great-great-grandma to Keira Aileen Kunde Wright in August. She is also survived by her siblings, Elroy Hansen of Vining, Delores Bjerketvedt of Detroit Lakes, Irene Stroschein of Underwood and Harold (Christine) Hansen of Kasilof, AK and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl and siblings, Agnes, Marry Jane, George, Jr., Lewis and Chester.
Memorials are preferred to the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery fund or the Pioneer Care Celebration Center.
