Herbert Beske, 89 of Fergus Falls died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Sheridan House in Fergus Falls.
Herbert Carl Beske was born on December 18, 1922 in Carlisle Township, rural Fergus Falls, Minnesota the son of Albert H. and Leine R.(Gabriel)Beske. He was baptized on January 7, 1923 by Rev. Kretzschman and confirmed on May 24, 1936 by Rev. George Grabarkewitz at the St. John's Lutheran in Elizabeth. Herb attended School District #86 by Carlisle through the eighth grade.
Herbert and Penelope Johnson were married on November 29, 1957 in the Little Brown Church by Nashua, Iowa. After their marriage they farmed on the Beske home farm by Carlisle for sixty-eight years and in April of 1990 they retired to Fergus Falls. Herb had served as Treasure for St. John's Lutheran Church, served on the board for the Carlisle Oil Co., served on the board for the Carlisle School, served as Supervisor and Clerk for Carlisle Township Board and had served as an Elder for the Trinity Lutheran Church and had served on the Trinity-Faith Cemetery Board both of Fergus Falls. He delivered "Coffee Time News" for thirteen years.
He is survived by his wife, Penny; three children, Deborah (Russell) Brown of Blaine and Russ's daughter, Vail (David) Pitcher of Chicago, Daniel (Amy) Beske of Fergus Falls and David Beske of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren, Vanessa Brown, Erin, Janelle and Kyle Beske; sister, Alice Olson; and by numerous relatives and friends. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Leine Beske; brother, Fred Beske; three sisters, Alma Beske, Elna Grasshoff and Esther Lewis; sister-in-law, Inez Beske; two brothers-in-law, Walter Lewis and Vernon Olson.
Funeral Service: 11am, Friday, April 20, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls
