Herbert Risbrudt, age 82, of Ashby, died Wednesday, December 07, 2011, at Evansville Care Campus in Evansville.
Herbert Rudolph Risbrudt was born on May 19, 1929 in St. Olaf Township, rural Dalton, Minnesota the son of Christopher and Julia (Rierson) Risbrudt. He was baptized in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church and confirmed in Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Herb attended Country Rural District #2 in St. Olaf Township, graduated from the Ashby High School in 1947 and continued his education for two years at St. Cloud State University.
Herbert and Wanda Hanson were married on November 11, 1951 in Ashby celebrating their 60th Anniversary on 11-11-11. After their marriage they lived on their farm in St. Olaf Township where they dairy farmed until retirement in 1987. They continued to live on the farm until 2001 when they moved to Ashby. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the church board, then later became a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He also served on the Ashby Creamery Board, Ashby Elevator Board and the Rural School District #2 Board. Herb enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking doing various furniture projects for family. He was an avid baseball player whom they called "Rip", he pitched in high school, college, with the Ashby Town Team and was known for his knuckle ball.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda; two daughters, Gail (Gary) Olson of Ashby and Joan (Scot) Anderson of Litchfield; one son, Michael (Lori) Risbrudt of Ashby; ten grandchildren, Tyler (Tami) Olson, Nick (Megan) Olson, Nicole (Mike) Jensen, Brooke (Grant) Williams, Jenna (Isaac) Brott, John Anderson, Kelsey, Dylan, Drew and Sawyer Risbrudt; five great- grandchildren, Reed, Ashton, Henry, Landon and Tatum; one sister, Helen (Loren) Erie of Barrett; one sister-in-law, Evie Risbrudt of Evansville; and by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher and Julia Risbrudt; and by four brothers, Ralph, Chester, Ervin and Glenn.
Funeral Services: 2:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby
