Howard "Howie" Norby, age 76, of Brooklyn Center, formerly of Evansville died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Howard Myron Norby was born September 16, 1934 to Horace and Linda (Pearson) Norby in Evansville. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviora�(TM)s Lutheran Church in Evansville. Howard attended and graduated from Evansville Public School and later served in the US Army. Howard and Carol Ann McKillips were united in marriage on June 4, 1960 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Paul by Reverend Harry Rappath. The couple have made their home and raised their family in Brooklyn Center. He worked 36 A½ years at Northern States Power Company, now Xcel Energy retiring at the age of 55.
Howard enjoyed duck, goose, deer hunting, fishing and golfing. He quit deer hunting when he started going to Arizona and then became a deer watcher. Howard took up golf at the age of 50. He played every chance he could at Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course in Elbow Lake and in Arizona with all his great golfing buddies. Howard loved watching anything to do with wildlife and sports that were on television.
He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, CIA (Christina, Ina, Anka) Lake Assn., Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course and especially enjoyed being the pitching coach for Little League and assistant coach for Babe Ruth baseball.
Howard is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Norby of Brooklyn Center; his children, James (Kandace) Norby and their children, Christian, Jaden, Hunter and Jake of Ashby; Andrea (James) Lowry and their children, Katie (FiancAC.e Seth Butz), Aaron, Andrew, Daniel and Nathan of Brooklyn Park; and Jon Norby of Brooklyn Park; his sister Marcy Davis of Sun City, CA; his brother, Robert Norby of Evansville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law Sid Davis.
Funeral Services: Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 1 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, Evansville
