Isabelle Clark, 95, of Fergus Falls died Thursday, March 30, 2017 at the Broen Home.
Isabelle Sagmo was born June 10, 1921, to Oscar and Christina (Larson) Sagmo in Winner, Minnesota. When Isabelle started school, she could only speak Swedish. Even though she had forgotten most of the Swedish language, she could still say the Swedish/Norwegian table prayer that they always said growing up. For a few years in Winner, the teacher lived with the Sagmo family. In 1934, the Sagmo family moved to a farm near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. While going to high school, Isabelle stayed in town with her grandparents, since the school bus didn't go close enough to their home in the country. Isabelle graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1940.
On July 28, 1941, she married Cecil Clark in Center City, Minnesota. She mostly worked at various nursing homes throughout her life, most notably, Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes and the Broen Home in Fergus Falls. Isabelle always had a big garden. She loved doing crafts, travelling and having her family around.
She is survived by six daughters: Joan (Ron) Oras of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Carol (Don) Phipps of Howards Grove, Wisconsin, Chris Arntson of Fergus Falls, Eileen (Randy) Kirkwood of Fergus Falls, Brenda Clark of Fergus Falls, and Lori (Andy) McWhirter of Junction City, Kansas; two sons: Mel (Vickie) Clark of Henderson, Colorado, and Bert Clark of Fergus Falls; a daughter-in-law, Cheri Clark of Chillicotahe, Ohio; 30 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Chester Sagmo of Detroit Lakes.
