Jack Plantin died peacefully at home under hospice care on October 12, 2016 in Clitherall, MN at the age of 75.
Jack was born on December 31, 1940 in Minneapolis, MN to Albert and Marion (Williams) Plantin. He graduated from West High School in 1959 and enlisted in the Navy after graduation. After the Navy, he worked as a repairman for NCR in Minneapolis for 21 years.
He was married to Darlene Anderson from 1964 to 1971 and to Rosalind Norby from 1971 to 1982.
In 1984, Jack married Polly Barrett Blaskowski. They decided to leave the city and bought a resort in Clitherall, MN. During the next 23 years they raised a family, became successful business owners and made their mark within the community. They retired to a home on Spitzer Lake.
Jack was an accomplished carpenter and was often found out in the garage working on one of his many projects. He was a generous man who loved everyone and always saw the best in people. He loved staying busy and was always willing to lend a hand to all. Jack was an active and dedicated member of the Our Lady of Lake Catholic Church and often did volunteer work there while telling funny stories about the mischief he and his siblings would get into as children.
Jack Plantin is survived by his wife Polly of 32 years, his sister Janet Peacock, Bethel MN. His children, Paula (Brent) Nevison, Mobile, AL, Parish (Lori) Plantin, Mobile, AL, Jason Plantin, Minneapolis, MN, Jennifer (Brock) Stenberg, Moorhead, MN, Pauline's children; Denise Scheer, Bluffton, SC, Suzy Barrett, Underwood, MN, Michael (Laural) Blaskowski, Wilmar, MN, Daniel (Julie) Blaskowski, Fergus Falls, MN, Matthew (Jennifer) Blaskowski, Ottertail, MN, Kate Ness, Battle Lake, MN, Sarah Blaskowski, Clitherall, MN and Charlie Blaskowski, Clitherall, MN; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Joan, Jerry, Jim Plantin, Jean Oakvik and infant son Paul.
A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, October 20 at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with visitation an hour before and a reception to follow. Father LeRoy Schik will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jack's life. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
