Janet B. Olson was born June 27, 1922 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Manda (Lunde) Stromstad. She graduated from Central High School in 1940, and from Aaker's Business College in 1941. She was employed for a time at Poppler Piano Company, after which she attended Lutheran Brethren Bible College in Fergus Falls MN graduating in 1948.
Janet was united in marriage to Rev. Harold S. Olson of Willmar, MN on October 24, 1948. Together they served parishes in Manhattan NY, Bergenfield NJ, and West Union IA.
From 1951 to 1968 they served in the Business Office of Lutheran Brethren Schools and the Finance Dept. of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren, Fergus Falls. They returned to parish ministry in Home Missions serving in Thief River Falls MN, and Cranston RI, until Rev. Olson's short illness and death in 1973.
Janet returned to Fergus Falls and was employed as Registrar at the Lutheran Brethren Schools, and later at the Rufer Law Firm as a legal secretary until 1987. During her semi-retirement years, she returned to the CLB Finance Dept. until 1994.
Janet enjoyed playing piano, singing alto, doing hardanger, crocheting, knitting and traveling. She felt that a pastor's wife plays an important role in being a helpmeet to her husband, and she displayed this quality faithfully and beautifully in her life.
On March 3, 2013, early Sunday morning, Janet passed away at the Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls MN, into the presence of her wonderful Savior and Lord.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband in 1973, and her parents.
She is survived by one sister, Lillian Frette of Grand Forks ND, and cousins, nieces and nephews.
