Jeffrey Dean Christensen, 55 of Ottertail Lake, Minnesota passed away peacefully on December 5, 2016, with his wife by his side, after a year long battle with cancer.
Jeff was born on July 27, 1961, in Perham, Minnesota the son of Herb and Julie (Hemquist) Christensen. He attended and graduated from the Battle Lake High School in 1980. He then went to Fergus Falls Community College from 1980 to 1982, mainly to play football and then attended Anoka College from 1982-1983, for Turf Management. Jeff then continued his education at Bemidji State University from 1983-1985, for Industrial Management and played intra-mural football.
At twelve years old Jeff worked at their Family Driving Range and Balmoral Golf Course which his grandparents owned. He was groundskeeper and mechanic until he retired in 2005. He took a year off to enjoy his hunting, fishing and traveling before starting his own lawncare business in 2006.
Jeff married his childhood friend, Julie Jensen from Moorhead in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 9, 1999. Jeff also became step-father to Julie's son Shane Jensen. He became a proud Grandpa to his three Grandboys, Adler, Linden and Cohen. Linden passed away unexpectedly in 2009. He loved hearing the words Grandpa Jeff. He made many memories with the boys in the short time he had with them, but they'll never forget the things he taught them and shared together.
Jeff's passion was pheasant hunting, taking many fishing trips to Canada, and fishing Ottertail Lake and many others. Jeff was definitely a man of all trades and master of all trades! If no one else could fix it, Jeff could, whether it was electrical, plumbing, mechanical or carpentry he could do it all. He was a hard worker and the job had to be done with precise perfection. He would always say, "Do you want it done half-assed or done right?" Sometimes a ten minute project would take two hours. He was very meticulous but truly enjoyed doing what he was working on at the time. Jeff would put aside his chores to help others first. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
Jeff leaves behind his wife and best friend, Julie; step-son, Shane (Ashley) Jensen of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Adler and Cohen; father, Herb Christensen Jr. of Battle Lake; mother, Julie (Hemquist) Christensen of Harlingen, TX; brother, Patrick (Kristi) Christensen of Battle Lake; two sisters, Lora (Wes) Balken of Erhard and Anne (Luke) Czarnecki of Legrange, GA; nieces and nephews, Derek (Kayla) Benhardus, Becky Benhardus, Sage and Sawyer Christensen and Reagan and Taylor Czarnecki; mother-in-law, Alyce Jensen of Moorhead; five brothers-in-law Peter (Judy) Jensen and Kelsey of Hinkley, Mark (Holly) Jensen and Ryan of Fargo, ND, Joel Jensen, Charleston, OR, Jack Jensen of Moorhead and Jay Jensen of Moorhead; sister-in-law Mary Jensen of Moorhead; and his little rescue kitty, Scruffie.
