Jerry Baylor, 71 of Fergus Falls, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 in Lake Region Hospital.
Jerry A. Baylor was born December 18, 1939 in Canton, Illinois, the son of Lyle "Pop" and Elsie Baylor. He attended grade school in Canton, graduating in 1957. Jerry continued his education at Western Illinois University.
Jerry married Carole "Santa Jo" Anderson, and they were blessed with a daughter, Beth. In 1980, Jerry married Faye Shol Ringquist. In 1997, Jerry made his home on Otter Tail River near Phelps Mill, and in 2009, poor health required him to move to Fergus Falls.
Jerry worked as an architect for several firms and went on to work as postal clerk in Canton, Ill, eventually becoming Postmaster with the United States Post Office in Lewistown, Ill. retiring in 1991. He participated as an Optimist member in Lewiston, Ill. eventually served as president. Jerry was a creative writer, writing both poetry and music. He played piano, guitar, and harmonica, sang, and was a story teller and avid fisherman. Jerry knew the names of all the lakes in Otter Tail County and where the best fishing holes were.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Faye of Fergus Falls; so loved daughter, Beth Baylor (fiancée Mike) of Canton, IL; two grandsons, Brett and Brian (Mindy) Allard of Canton and great-grandchildren, Makenzy and Maverick; step-children: Lysa Ringquist of Chanhassen; grandsons, Josh of Anoka, and Justin of Chicago, IL; Lori Bartlett of Fergus Falls; granddaughter Lindsy (Eric) Briese and great-grandson, Wyatt of Fergus Falls; daughter-in-law, Julie Ringquist of Erhard; grandson, Andrew Ringquist and great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Yzabell of California; granddaughter Amanda (Mike) Tenney, great-grandchildren, Victoria, MacKenzie, Abby and Kaitlyn of Mankato; grandson Aaron (Elizabeth) Ringquist and great-grandchildren, Julianna and Alivia of Foxhome; granddaughter Kristi'Le Smith and great-granddaughter Logan of Fergus Falls; brother, Robert of Ankeny, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Bette Zins, Audrey Stach, Patricia Gapen; brother-in-law, Gene (Ruth) Shol; mother-in-law, Pearl Shol; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunt s and uncles Warren and Nannie, Vern and Rosie, all of Illinois, and step-son, Zack Ringquist.
Honorary urn bearers are his fishing buddies, Gus Stach, Bob Poyzer, Gary Westerhaug, Jimmy Hardy, Carl Snyder, Bobby Witsit, Zack Ringquist, Lindsy Briese, Larry Edwards, AJ Ringquist and Bobby Baylor.
