Joan Holo

Joan Holo, 91 of Fergus Falls, formerly of rural Battle Lake, died Sunday, January 30, 2022, at her home.

Joan Helen Holo was born July 21, 1930, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota the daughter of James and Hazel (Ronning) Formo. She attended grade school in Dalton and graduated from Fergus Falls High School. She worked at Norby’s in Fergus Falls after graduation. Joan married Edmund Orrin Holo September 17, 1950. They lived on their farm in Tordenskjold Township. She cooked, baked and raised a big garden. Her grandchildren loved her oatmeal raisin cookies, pancakes and toasted cheese sandwiches. She loved taking long walks on the farm enjoying the trees, birds and wildflowers. Joan’s family will miss her special prayers. Joan worked as a CNA and TMA at the Battle Lake Nursing Home for several years.

She is survived by her five children: Steven Holo, Cynthia (Leslie) Bredeson, Michael (Carrie) Holo, Jeffrey (Jacinta) Holo and Lisa (Mark) Becker; Grandchildren: Carolyn (Kevin) Kelley, Holly (Todd) Braud, Heather (Roman) Olivieri, Tryg (Kimberly) Bredeson, Bevan (Elyssa) Bredeson, Erik (Melissa) Holo, Kelsey Holo (fiance’ Jon Pickar), Ashley (Kyle) Enger, Erica (Tom) Jorgenson, Ronnie Becker and Tessa Becker; great-grandchildren: Paradise, Majesty and Wilderness Kelley; Odin, Elef and Ezra Braud; Virgo and Audie Olivieri; Zane Bredeson; Maverick and baby girl Bredeson due in May; Ella and Charlie Holo; Annabella Enger and Elliana Jorgenson; brothers: Carroll (Linda) Formo and Vernon Formo; sister: Dorothy Krebs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles, and husband Edmund in 2018.

Memorial Service: 11AM, Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment: Bethel Lutheran Cemetery of rural Battle Lake.
