John Robert Larson, 91, of Colleyville, TX, formerly of Fergus Falls, MN, passed away July 27, 2016 at home with his loving wife, daughter, and son-in-law at his side.
John was born August 4, 1924, the son of Albert K. Larson and Selma Pearson Larson. He married the love of his life Iris Halvorson on April 1, 1950 at Grace United Methodist Church. Their years together were filled with adventure, love, and family.
John was a 1942 graduate of Washington High School, Curtis Wright Institute of Technology in Glendale, CA and A & E School in Lincoln, NE and from 1943 to 1946, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force, stationed in India as a crew chief and flew the hump into China during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. While in high school and in the service, he was an excellent marksman and won many medals.
John's special hobby was designing and building model airplanes. He was an avid reader of American History, Airplane History, and spell binding mysteries.
John completed 39 years as Maintenance Supervisor at Braniff Airways, Dallas, TX. He was one of the first supervisors to oversee the Super Sonic Concord.
John was a devoted husband and father. He will remembered by family and friends for his knowledge and quick wit.
He is survived by his wife, Iris; daughter, Patsy and son-in-law, Edward Marsh Tighe; brother, Duane F. Larson; nephew, Jimmy (Christie) Larson and their daughters Grace and Sofia; niece, Kathleen Larson; and his faithful poodle Suzette who was always watching over him.
Memorials are preferred to Grace United Methodist Church in Fergus Falls, MN; the White Chapel United Methodist Church Southlake, TX where John was a member; or the Humane Society in your area (he adored all animals).
