Joshua Boock

Joshua Boock, 32, of rural Bemidji died Friday, January 11, 2013, at his home in Bemidji. He was the father of nineteen month old Phyn, the daughter who was the apple of his eye.
Joshua Oscar Boock was born on November 12, 1980, in Breckenridge, Minnesota. He was the son of Ronald and Barbara (Sandahl) Boock. He was baptized into the Lutheran Church at birth in St Francis Hospital in Breckenridge. Josh attended the Bemidji Public Schools graduating from the Bemidji High School in 1999. He then continued his education at Bemidji State University graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Graphic Design, with his emphasis in ceramics.
Josh was a Master Potter. While in college he and his father constructed the pottery studio. After graduation he continued as a self-employed potter. Josh, as a master potter, was a nationally recognized artist with numerous shows around the nation. Among the many accomplishments, he owned showrooms where he displayed and sold his works at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival in Shakopee, the Arizona Renaissance Festival in Apache Junction, the Georgia Renaissance Festival in Fairburn, Georgia.
He attended many shows throughout the country always working with his parents, Ron and Barbara. Ron entertained kids and their families as KRISPYDaDragonmaster outside the building while Josh would do numerous demonstrations of various ceramics techniques. Josh was active in many art associations.
As a boy he was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout later becoming an assistant leader. Josh was an avid hunter, both with bow and rifle for deer and bear. He had many awards for his work including the Westy James Achievement Award for Ceramic Excellence. He enjoyed especially demonstrating for students and children. He is survived by his daughter, Phyn Elise Boock of Bemidji; parents, Ron and Barb Boock of Bemidji and Vining; grandfather, Delbert Boock of Breckenridge; and by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oscar J. and Alice Sandahl and Melba Boock; his great-grandparents Ludwig and Freda Boock and maternal great grandparents Gunder and Marie Sandahl.
Memorial Service: 11 AM, Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Clitherall
Visitation: one hour prior to the service at 10 AM
