Joyce E. Johnson, 94, of Erhard, MN, formerly of Fergus Falls, died on Monday, September 7, 2015, at the Page Adult Care Home in Erhard.

Joyce Elaine was born on March 27, 1921, in Rush City, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Della (Goranson) Johnson. Joyce attended Minnehaha Academy and Bethel Lutheran Seminary. She had a career in Journalism and worked from 1950 to 1995 in the Kenya Mission Field. She worked closely with the Africa Inland Mission-Interdenominational which is the largest in the country.

Joyce loved reading, visiting, writing to friends and family, stamp collecting and writing hymns and music for the African Church. She had a deep love of animals over the years, especially her dogs. Joyce had a great sense of humor and kindness and it showed on the faces of the many people she touched throughout her years in the Mission Field.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Della and a brother, John Grandin.

She is survived by her two nephews, Greg (Kathy) Johnson of New Trier, MN and Steven (Deborah) Johnson of North Branch, MN; a niece, Wendy (Dean) Johnson of Becker, MN; special friends, Margaret Harringshaw of East Africa and Ron Laity of Australia; 9 great nieces and nephews and 13 great- great nieces and nephews along with a host of friends.

Memorial Gathering: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.

Clergy: Pastor Ned Eerdmans

Interment: Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN
