Joyce Grace Quernemoen

Joyce Quernemoen, 93, of Fergus Falls, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, at LB Broen Home under the care of Vivie Hospice. Her funeral is set for 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. There will be a visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Knollwood Cemetery, Fergus Falls.

Joyce Grace Quenemoen was born on May 19, 1931, in Wadena, Minnesota to John and Carrie (Martin) Frantz. She attended Wadena Public School, and when she was 11 years old her family moved to Fergus Falls where she graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1949.

Joyce and Russell Quernemoen were married on June 4, 1949, at the First Baptist Church in Fergus Falls. After their marriage, they lived in Fergus Falls; then 6 years in Greenville, South Carolina; then 2 years in Flint, Michigan; they would then return to Fergus Falls, then to their lake home on Ottertail Lake for the next 35 years before moving back into Fergus Falls in 1996. Joyce worked as a seamstress and had been a cashier at various locations. She had worked at clothing stores, Something Special, and retired from Fashion Bug after 9 years. She said she mainly attended the “School of Hard Knocks”. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family and was glad to be home raising her 6 children. Joyce was a member of the Fergus Falls Senior Citizens. She enjoyed music, playing piano and organ, along with doing a lot of singing. Joyce traveled with the Bloodwash Band playing keyboard along with singing and after her retirement, she also did oil painting.

Joyce is survived by her children, Gary (Linda) Quernemoen of St. Cloud, MN, Mary (Greg) Scott of Battle Lake, MN, Jon (Joni) Quernemoen of Fergus Falls, MN, Eric Quernemoen of Ottertail Lake, MN, Joy Brown, of Fergus Falls, MN, and Rene’ Quernemoen of Fergus Falls, MN; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Carrie Frantz; husband, Russell; grandsons, Timothy and Jacob Scott; and her sisters, Phoebe Wiebe and Clarissa Rennaker.
