Katherine Erickson

May 15, 1930 — May 28, 2016

Katherine "Kay" Erickson, 86, of Evansville died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. Kay was born May 15, 1930 in Alvarado, MN to Hilding and Olga Anderson. She moved to the farm by Evansville as a small child. She was confirmed at the Calvary Covenant Church, and graduated from Evansville High School in 1948. On December 7, 1951, she was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Erickson in Madison WI. The couple made their home by Evansville where they farmed and raised their family. Kay worked hard on the farm, milking the cows, and keeping a beautiful yard. She also worked at Crestview Manor in the activities department. Kay was strong in her faith, singing in the church choir and a vocal trio (she had a beautiful soprano voice), was active with Faith Women, and attended many church functions. Kay loved it when the "Ericksons" filled up a few pews during church. Kay also participated in many community activities, including singing with Sweet Adelines. Kay enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers. Spending time with family was very important to Kay, whether it was one at a time, the whole crew, or a phone call from those not so close. Each and every one was important to her.

Kay is survived by her children: Candace (John) Steer of Brandon, Warren (Debra) Erickson of Evansville, Susan (Galen) Boerhave of Barrett, Gwen (Darrell) Gillespie of Alexandria and Kim Erickson of Evansville; her grandchildren: Jami (Barry Lunemann-fiance) and Erin Steer, Katy (Jeremy) Gibson, Kelly (Brent) Nowacki, Kristin and Kullin Erickson, Jeff (Jessie) Skoglund, Amy (Borna) Albus, Mike (Jackie) Skoglund, Amanda (Brett) Anderson and Ryan (Terra) Lindemyer; great-grandchildren: Kylie, Madison, Olivia and Ryker Anderson, Evan, Brendon, Myla and Samuel Gibson, Logan Nowacki, Aria Skoglund, Dominik and Noah Albus, Lennon Lindemyer, Callie and Paige Skoglund; her sister, Shirley (Nick) Karabotsos; her brother, Hilding Neal Anderson; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Doose and Kathlyn Hanson and brother-in-law, Ward Aas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth in 2007 and a brother, Gerald Anderson.
