Kevin Cary, 33, of Rothsay, died Saturday, September 6, 2014, at his home, under the care of his wife and Lakeland Hospice.
Kevin Thomas was born September 23, 1980 in Park Rapids, the son of Tom and Barbara (Wise) Cary. He grew up in Park Rapids, graduating from Park Rapids High School in 1999. Kevin continued his education at Northland Community & Technical College in Thief River Falls, Fergus Falls Community College, and finishing at Moorhead State University. Kevin was a long time employee at the airport in Fergus Falls, up to the time of his diagnosis of brain cancer in June 2013.
On July 18, 2009, Kevin married Kristi Danielson in Rothsay. They made their home in Fergus Falls, and in 2012, the family moved to a farm outside of Rothsay. To their union, they were blessed with 2 children, Elizabeth and James. Kevin was a loving father and provider to his wife and children.
Kevin grew up with an interest in aviation, was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing for most of his life. After becoming a father, Kevin enjoyed spending time with his young children. Because of wonderful influence of college friends, Kevin came to a saving knowledge of Jesus while in college, and was baptized on August 17, 2014. He was an active member of Rothsay Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Barbara Cary, and grandparents, Elon and Alma Cary, and Betty Wise.
Survivors include his wife, Kristi, and children Elizabeth (4) and James (2), all of Rothsay; father Tom (wife Karen) Cary of Park Rapids, sisters Jodi (Ben) Swanson, Fargo and Lacey Cary, Minneapolis, grandparents-in-law Gilman and Helen Nord, Rothsay, parents-in-law Doug and Shirley Danielson, Rothsay, brother-in-law Cary (Karen) Danielson, Rothsay, sisters-in-law Karen (Justin) Phillips, Rothsay, Kay (Matt) Ellerbusch, Warren, Karla (Sean Polley) Danielson, Warren, Kelly Danielson, Rothsay, and Kelsey Danielson, Rothsay; as well as nephews and nieces Kodiak (Melaine Prechel) Estes, Allison, Andrea, Wesley and William Phillips, and Jeremiah and Hattie Ellerbusch; as well as several close friends, and many extended family members. Kevin will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Rothsay Baptist Church, Rothsay, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Visitation: Tuesday, September 9, from 4-6 P.M., at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls.
