Larry Hauge

August 19, 1938 — January 1, 2018

Larry Charles Hauge was born August 19, 1938, in Ottertail County, Minnesota to Harold and Myrtle (Weiss) Hauge.  He was baptized and confirmed in Fergus Falls.  Larry attended school in Fergus Falls and was lifelong resident of Fergus Falls.

On August 19, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mavis Elshaug at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls by Pastor Knick. Larry worked for the City of Fergus Falls for 35 years. Upon retirement he continued to do road grading for Buse Township and Bottners.  His lifelong passion was operating heavy machinery, enjoying road trips to search for antique tractors and treasures and attending the Rollag and Dalton Threshermans events yearly.

He had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1960 where he served as a greeter and usher.  He volunteered at the food shelf in Fergus Falls and enjoyed planning a family reunion every August with Mavis. He and Mavis were married for 50 years in 2010.

On Monday, January 1, 2018, Larry passed away at his home in Fergus Falls at the age of 79 years.

He is survived by three daughters, June (Gary) Hendrickson of Moorhead, MN, Lori VanWechel of Fargo, ND and Carrie Hanson of Erhard, MN; five grandchildren, Matthew (Anne) Hendrickson, Heather Carlson, Lindsey (Nick) Leinen, Lucas Hanson and Jordan VanWechel; four great grandchildren, Simon Carlson, Elin and Anders Hendrickson and Avalee Leinen; three sisters, Elaine Sivertson, Darlene Burnes and Cathie (Vernyl) Fronning along with numerous family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Myrtle Hauge; wife, Mavis; and infant son, Hal Hauge in 1962.

Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 5, 2017, at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Clergy: Rev. Roger Lange

Interment: Trinity-Faith Cemetery, Fergus Falls
