Laurize Larson, 89, of Dalton, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Evansville Assisted Living.
Laurize Hazel Hanson was born on June 22, 1926, in Eagle Lake Township, rural Battle Lake, Minnesota, the daughter of Christian and Asta (Peterson) Hanson. The seventh of eleven children, she attended country school at Eagle Lake Township District #6 through the sixth grade and was baptized and confirmed at Grue Lutheran Church, rural Ashby.
On August 17, 1945, Laurize married Swen Larson and they were blessed with four children.
Laurize and Swen farmed in Tordenskjold Township, just north of Stalker Lake for many years. As an active farm wife and homemaker, Laurize balanced the duties of farm work and raising her family, in addition to numerous activities and organizations. She was a member of Bethel and Our Saviors Lutheran Church Ladies Clubs, Quilting group, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
In her spare time, Laurize enjoyed playing cards, bingo, quilting, needle work, and baking.
She is survived by her four children, Glen (Zaida) Larson of Columbia, South Dakota, LaVonne (Larry) Stewart of Richville, MN, Floyd (Cheryl) Larson of Dalton and Lloyd (Dawn) Larson of North Mankato, MN; nine grandchildren, Ellie Larson, Cody Stewart, Jacki Canedy, Carrie Larson, Adam Larson, Charity Hovland, Erica Jensen, Aaron Larson and Anna Malecha; nine great-grandchildren; two siblings, Geneva Karasch of Henning, MN and Floyd David (Yvonne) Hanson of Evansville; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Laurize was preceded in death by her husband, Swen in 1987; brothers, Hartwich, Raymond, Alfred, and Harry; and sisters, Mabel, Alveda, Clara, and Violet.
