Larry Bosen Jr, 84, Battle Lake, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls.
Lawrence Bernard Bosen Jr was born on July 11, 1931 in Presho, South Dakota the son of Lawrence B. Sr and Minnie B. (Bibler) Bosen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Wadena Lutheran Church and graduated from Wadena Mills High School in 1949. He served with the US Army for two years during the Korean conflict. He then continued his education at Moorhead State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in English, Library and Social Science. He later graduated from the University of Oregon with his Masters in Education, in Guidance in Counseling and Psychology.
Lawrence and Ellen V. Hietala were married on August 9, 1952 in Staples, Minnesota. He was employed with Midwest Motor Express in Fargo and during this time was finishing his college education. He taught for a total of twenty years, teaching in Perham, Motley, Tillamook, OR and Nyssa, OR. He then was employed in Waterloo, IA, where he worked with the county on an ABC Program where he consulted with fifty-two schools, and his final teaching position was in Cedar Rapids, IA where he was an Elementary Counselor. In 1976 he purchased Larry's Dew Drop Inn Resort on Lake Traverse near Browns Valley, MN which he operated for twenty years. The resort was sold in 1996 when the couple moved to Ottertail City where they purchased and operated Granny's Variety Corner until 2004, when they moved to their home in Battle Lake.
Lawrence was a writer and enjoyed reading, fishing and bowling. He enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren, he was blessed with the best wife a man could ever have.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ellen on March 2, 2016, parents, Lawrence Sr and Minnie and a son, Larry Allen Bosen.
He is survived by six children, Laura (Robert) Heneks of Mechanicsville, Iowa, Lee Bosen, and Lynnette (Larry) Hayes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lonny (Ramona) Bosen of Dallas, Texas, Laine (Wendy) Bosen of Perham, Minnesota and Loren (Darla) Bosen of Wylie, Texas; eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and one sister, Irene Graphenteen of Hewitt, MN along with numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral Services: 1 PM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, Battle Lake, MN
