Leo McNulty

July 29, 1924 — November 5, 2014

Leo "Blair" McNulty passed comfortably in his sleep at the Veteran's Home, in Fergus Falls, on Wednesday November 5th. Blair was born on July 29th 1924, in Park Rapids Minnesota. He made lifelong friends during his time there and stayed in touch with many of them as long as possible. He met his sweetheart Dorothy McNulty (Meinke) and proposed to her before joining the WWII efforts.

Blair served his country proudly, was injured during his servitude and was honorably discharged after his recovery. After the war, Blair worked across the country, specializing in terrazzo flooring. He was one of the first Caucasian Americans to own a terrazzo flooring company and was proud to have worked on many great buildings, including some work at Notre Dame. Blair and Dorothy decided to settle down in St. Louis Park, MN. They would raise a family there, including two daughters, Linda and Vicky. Blair found his calling as a salesman and was employed with the Culligan Company for the duration of his working years. Most people who knew Blair considered this a perfect role for him, since he was naturally charming and likeable. Blair thrived in this role and had much success, winning multiple awards as the top salesman in the nation, as well as perennially being amongst the top earners in the company.

Blair and Dorothy would move to Battle Lake, MN in the 1980's. They loved the area and would remain there the rest of their years. They would snowbird in Mobile, AL during the Winters and also enjoyed many vacations, Las Vegas and Hawaii were among their favorites. Their doors were always open and it seemed like they always had guests, either relatives or friends. Blair spent the last of his years in the Fergus Falls Veterans Home, where he enjoyed the comforts of friends, family, and a wonderfully caring staff.

Grandpa enjoyed hunting, fishing, cards, spending time with family, watching the Vikes, eating sweets (usually sneaking them so grandma didn't see), and good times with friends. His great qualities and lifelong lessons will remain with us for generations. He was a great man who will be missed dearly.
