Leta Lou Hanson, age 97 passed away October 10, 2024, at Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake, MN.
Leta Lou Hanson was born on December 12, 1926, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Charles and Ida (Roberts) Dehler. She attended Country School in Girard Township and then the Battle Lake High School.
On November 12, 1955, Leta married Lewis Hanson in Battle Lake. She was a waitress for Milla Ranstad at Randstad’s Café. After their marriage, Leta and Lewis farmed together, where she worked with Louie on their farm raising feeder cattle, chickens, vegetables, and baked all occasion cakes. They also had sweet corn that everyone enjoyed. Leta (Tudy) was known as the “Corn Lady.” She stared driving school bus in 1965 for Battle Lake Public School, retiring after 26 years in 1991. Tudy was a self-taught artist and enjoyed painting, gardening both flowers and vegetables. Tudy was a charter member with Art of the Lakes in Battle Lake. She liked antiques, collected Crosley Cars (American made), loved dogs and nature. She enjoyed deer and duck hunting. She liked to work and loved to be active.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lewis, her daughter Rhoberta Tamke, her parents Charles and Ida Dehler; three brothers: Robert, Edward, and Bill Dehler and two sisters, Bette Jeanne Moe Hubbard and her twin sister Leatha Lee.
She is survived by two grandchildren: Megan Tamke of Minneapolis and Tad Tamke of St. Paul and one great-grandson, Henry Tamke, and by numerous relatives and friends.
Leta was a member of Eagle Lake Lutheran Church of rural Battle Lake.
A memorial service for Leta will be held at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church, Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with lunch and fellowship following.
