Lloyd William Hedtke was born on September 26, 1925 in
Laketown
Township
, near
Victoria
,
Minnesota
the son of William and
Lena
(Ehrenberg) Hedtke.
He was baptized and confirmed in the
Lake
Auburn
Moravian
Church
.
Lloyd attended the
Victoria
Public School
through the eighth grade, then graduated from the
Waconia
High School
in 1943.
Lloyd joined the U.S. Army serving in
Japan
during World War II.
Lloyd and Doris Christensen were married on June 27, 1952 in the
Lutheran
Church
in
Bruno
,
Minnesota
.
After their marriage they lived near
Victoria
.
In 1963 they moved to Waconia where they lived until moving to
Fergus
Falls
in September of 2004.
He was employed with Minneapolis Moline in
Minneapolis
, then Continental Machines in Savage for twenty-six years, retiring in 1988.
Lloyd enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting, trapping, and spending time at their cabin near
Willow
River
. In March of 1997 he became an avid armchair gardener and fisherman after suffering a stroke.
Most recently he enjoyed television, radio, birdwatching and his view of
Jewett
Lake
.
Lloyd is a member of the
Waconia
Moravian
Church
.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Doris; two sons Doug Hedtke (fiancé Shelley Becklund) of Fergus Falls, and Alan (Joanna) Hedtke of Fergus Falls; granddaughter Alanna Hedtke; step grandson, Mason McClain; brother Everal (Virginia) Hedtke of Backus; brother-in-law Virgil (Dolly) Christensen of St Cloud; nieces, nephews and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
