Lloyd was born on December 9, 1911 in Urness Township of Douglas County,

Most important to Lloyd were his family and his Lutheran faith. He also really enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.
He farmed the Hokanson home place for 50 years. In 1958 he started police training which led to a 40 year career in law enforcement; including Urness Township Constable, Stillwater Prison Tower Guard, first Security Guard at 3M Plant, Patrolman for
Through the years, he has been a member and/or officer of the following: St. Petri Lutheran Church; Fryksande Church & Cemetery Association; Urness Township; Evansville Rifle and Pistol Club; Douglas County Sheriff's Department, Charter Member of the Sheriff’s Posse, First Responders, Soil and Water Conservation, Fair Board, and many others. He was elected to the Douglas County Older American Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife: Mayme; children: Helen (George) Kent of Fergus Falls, Harlan (Snoose) of Evansville (living on the Hokanson home place), Romel of San Diego CA, and Renee Schecker of Evansville; grandchildren: Mary (Larry) Thorstad, Michelle (Ryan) Gebhardt, Michael Hokanson, Kristi Hokanson, and Cory Hokanson; and great-grand-children Tyson, Larissa, Nicholas, Vincent, Ella and several others.
He has one brother, Walter (Slim) Hokanson of Morris,

He will be thoroughly missed by his family and his community.
