Lorraine R. Juul, 93, of Evansville, MN, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at the Evansville Care Center.
Lorraine Ruth (Chilstrom) Juul was born on April 28, 1924 in Litchfield, MN, the daughter of Walfred and Ruth (Lindell) Chilstrom. She attended Litchfield High School and upon graduation was employed as a telephone operator at NW Bell in Litchfield.
On June 14, 1947, she married Richard “Dick” Juul of Hutchinson, MN. After receiving his degree in Pharmacy, Dick and Lorraine purchased Echo Drug in 1957 in Echo, MN and in 1966 they purchased Miller Drug in Evansville renaming it Juul Drug. Lorraine and Dick operated Juul Drug for 27 years, retiring in 1993.
Lorraine taught Sunday School at Faith Lutheran Church for over 20 years, was a member of Faith Women and the Evansville Progressive Garden Club. She was also known in the community for her warm and loving acts of kindness such as sewing receiving blankets, booties and bibs for all newborn babies, bringing her tasty homemade angel food cake and date bread to the sick and bereaved and remembering children on their birthdays and Valentine’s Day with a card in the mail including sticks of chewing gum and a two dollar bill. She was a sweet, soft spoken, gentle, loving and caring person.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Dick, parents, sister Adeline Christenson, brother David Chilstrom, sisters-in-law Evelyn Lipke, Irene Juul, Carol Busch; brothers-in-law Earle Christenson, Clyde Christenson, William Francis, Alton Juul, Jens Juul and Lester Lipke; nieces, nephews, and a great niece.
She is survived by her three children, Dick (Pauline) Jr. of Athens, GA, Barb (Mark) Bratvold of Ashby and Tom (Carol) Juul of Evansville; six grandchildren, Laura and Tim Juul, Jonathon (Katie) Bratvold, Donald (fiancé Shelby Wagner), William and Robert Juul; two great grandchildren, Henry and Hanna Bratvold; sisters Winnie Christenson (MN), Virginia Francis (SC), Martha (Chuck) Anderson (MN), Janet (Fred) Sickert (OR) and brother Herbert (Corinne) Chilstrom (AZ), many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
