Louise Helen Pederson was born February 13, 1919 to Lynton and Gladys (Drew) Reed in
Cass Lake
,
Minnesota
.
At a young age Louise moved with her family to rural
Louisburg
.
She graduated from
Appleton
High School
in 1936 and was employed as a secretary for a local attorney.
Later she worked at The Farmer’s & Merchant’s State Bank in
Appleton
.
Louise met her future husband, Robert Pederson, while working at the bank.
They were united in marriage on July 6, 1941. Robert & Louise made their home in
Appleton
until retiring in October 1984, when they moved to
Otter
Tail
Lake
.
In 2006 the couple moved to
Park
Gardens
in
Fergus
Falls
.
Louise has been under the loving care of her husband and Lakeland Hospice House since February 2010.
Louise was active in
Zion
Lutheran
Church
in
Appleton
.
She designed the paraments for the church, was secretary/treasurer of the Sunday school and participated in Ladies Aide.
Louise was also an active leader of Girl Scouts and a Boy Scout den mother.
She was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries.
Louise was an accomplished artist, having painted many oil paintings and water color paintings.
She was active in the Appleton Art Club and the MN Rural Artists Association serving as treasure for a number of years.
Louise had the honor of having one of her paintings chosen from a statewide selection to hang in the Minnesota Governor’s mansion.
She was an expert seamstress, sewing many beautiful outfits for her 2 daughters and also doing some furniture reupholstering.
Louise was a member of P.E.O. and loved her sisters.
She loved to hunt and fish as well as play bridge and support the Minnesota Twins.
Most important to her were her family and friends.
Louise is survived by her husband, Robert of Fergus Falls; children, Cindy (Neil) Dahlseid of Fergus Falls, Drew (Ruthie) Pederson of Maple Grove and Janine (Brian) Wojtalewicz of Appleton; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert Reed and sister, Ruth Bruner.
Memorials preferred to First Lutheran Church Building Fund or Lakeland Hospice House.
