Lucille Nelson

Lucille Nelson, age 91, of Ashby, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at Broen Memorial Home, Fergus Falls .

Lucille Mary Nelson was born August 24, 1919 in Northville , MI , the 3 ^rd oldest in a family of six children to Grover and Claribel (Glass) Colby.

Lucille was married to George L. Nelson on September 9, 1939. They raised their family of eight children in New Haven , MI . After raising their family, George and Lucille retired to Ashby , MN . Lucille was a loving help-mate and mother, who also worked for many years as an aide in the local schools. Above all she was known as a woman of great faith who loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She always served faithfully in the churches she attended. In her later years she visited her friends at convalescent homes in Ashby and Fergus Falls until her failing health would no longer allow her to continue.

Lucille will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren who looked to her for godly wisdom and input into their lives. She always had time for card games or her favorite game of Scrabble. Lucille was known for her competitive spirit and it was quite an accomplishment to be Grandma at Scrabble!

She is survived by her eight children, Clarence (Carol) of Saginaw, MI, Nancy (Jim) Young of Novato, CA, Barbara Ellsworth of Belleville, MI, Janet (John) Luzier of New Haven, MI, Judy Cornacchia of Clinton Twp, MI, Tom (Sandy) of Woodbury, MN, Lori Smith of Dalton, MN, and George (Sharon) of Ashby, MN; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, two sisters, Esther Bongiovanni of Northville, MI and Bessie Bongiovanni of Brighton, MI.

Lucille is preceded in death by her husband George; her parents; two sisters Doris Thorne, Billie Somers and one brother Grover Colby, Jr.
