Malinda Swanson

Malinda "Toots" Swanson, 88, of Fergus Falls died Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls. She was born July 20, 1927 in Elgen, NE, the daughter of Fritz and Rose (Deitering) Brandstetter. Malinda graduated from high school in Tilden, NE. On December 27, 1945, she married Arnold Swanson in Tilden, NE. The couple resided in Henning where they were engaged in farming. They were the parents of two children, Dale and Diane. Malinda was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included gardening, dancing and she enjoyed traveling and sightseeing.

Malinda is survived by her son, Dale (Kimberlee) of Ft. Myers, FL and a daughter, Diane (Allen) Ricker of Hickson, ND; five grandchildren: Malinda, Angela, Megan, Blain and Casey and one great-grandchild, Joshua along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Arnold in 2011, her sister, Irma Whitwer, her brother, Raymond Brandstetter and her sisters and brothers-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Fergus Falls American Legion Auxiliary.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.

Service: Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Augustana Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls

Burial: MN Veteran's Cemetery in Little Falls
