Marcus Koefod, 85, passed away on Jan.21, 2025, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota

Marcus M. Koefod was born on September 19, 1939 in Ashby, Minnesota the son of Ferdinand a Alice (Slotsve) Koefod. He was baptized and confirmed in the Pelican Lake Lutheran Church and graduated from the Ashby High School in 1957. He entered the U.S. Navy on September 12, 1957, stationed first at the Great Lakes Training Center, then at Newport and Quonset Point both in Rha Island. Mark served on the U.S. Wasp an anti-submarine warfare ship off the US coast. Cuba a then the Congo in Africa. He was honorably discharged as a Chaplains Assistant on August 25, 1960. He attended Lee's Barber School in St. Paul, then worked for two-and one-half years for Denny's Barbershop in Richfield as an apprentice.

Mark and Yvonne Torgrimson were married on March 3, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashby. They lived in Minneapolis, Roseville, and Hopkins. In 1967 they returned to Ashby where they raised their three children and Mark owned and operated Mark's Barbershop. He served the community for 50 years retiring at age 80.

Mark and Marcia Ann Tweet were married on June 18, 2003, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sports, hunting, and fishing. He had been a member of the Ashby Ambulance Service and the Ashby Fire Department. Mark was one of the founding members of the Ashby Veterans Memorial and was part of the Memorial Day committee and was a member of the Ashby American Legion Post 357. Mark enjoyed and appreciated the Ashby community. He was honored to receive the Ashby Legacy Award in 2024 for his dedication to Ashby. In addition to this, he was a memorable custodian at the Ashby Public School for 27 years where he made an impact on the lives of many.

Family-wife, Marcia, three children and their families, Pamela Jo (Gary) Ruter, Collin, Brendan (Matt), Allison (Brandon) Lang and Aaron of New London, two sons, Randy (Tammy) Koefod. Taylor (Miles) Wing and Courtney (Scott Johnson) and Craig (Carol) Koefod. Christian (Josey) and Catherine all of Ashby: two stepchildren, Elizabeth Oslund and Charles and Hazel of Long Lake and Adam (Paloma)Tweet and Harper and Eliana of Ft. Meyers. Fl. and Great Grandchildren: Brooklyn, Blake, Brandon Jr. as well as by numerous relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents. Ferdinand and Alice Koefod: wife, Yvonne on August 27, 1999, mother and father in-laws, three brothers, Robert "Bob", Curtis "Cork" and Darrell "Poof Koefod their spouses and brother-in-law Mike Knutson.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church in Ashby, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment: Pelican Lake Cemetery, Ashby, Minnesota

Military Honors Pederson-Tripp American Legion Post 357, Ashby, Minnesota

Funeral arrangements are with the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Ashby.
