Margaret Drechsel, 78, of rural Fergus Falls died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at her home.
Margaret Carolyn Drechsel was born March 8, 1933 in Fergus Falls, the daughter of Micheal and Earline (Anderson) Igelstad. She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at Bethel Lutheran Church. Margaret grew up in Fergus Falls and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church.
Margaret attended and graduated from Hillcrest in 1951. Margaret married Ralph Drechsel in October of 1955 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Together they raised one son, Christian. She was a hard working wife and wonderful mother.
She enjoyed music and played the church organ at Immanuel Lutheran Church since her marriage. Margaret was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served in various offices, was very strong in her faith and shared her talents. Margaret worked at Erickson Electronics, then at the Broen Home for several years and was a longtime volunteer at Lake Region Hospital.
She enjoyed cooking, flowers, counted cross-stitch with angels and really enjoyed everything pertaining to angels, and taking her son to different farm fields. She also enjoyed visiting family and friends and Margaret had traveled to Norway twice.
Margaret is survived by her son, Christian (Jean) Drechsel of Fergus Falls; her sister-in-law, Marian Igelstad of Fergus Falls; her niece Mary Jo Igelstad of Fergus Falls; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph on January 4, 1988, her parents and one brother, Joe Igelstad.
Funeral Services: Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Fergus Falls
Visitation: Friday 4-7 P.M. with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church
