Marilyn Larson, 65, of Fergus Falls died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at her home under the care of Lakeland Hospice.
Marilyn Ann Ehlert was born on December 30, 1948 in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the daughter of Victor and Ann (Miranowski) Ehlert. She graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1966. After receiving her education, Marilyn worked for the Wahpeton Daily News as office manager, also handling ad layout and sales.
On September 26, 1969, Marilyn married Doug Larson at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Kent, Minnesota, and they were blessed with a daughter, Nikki.
Marilyn and Doug moved to Paynesville, Minnesota, and she went to work for the Associated Milk Producers as a buyer. Years later, Doug took a job with Lampert Lumber in Fergus Falls and because Marilyn was so loved by her employer, they made it worth Doug's while to commute back and forth to Fergus Falls. Six months later, the couple moved to Fergus Falls, where Marilyn worked for the Ness-Neumann-Waller and Nygaard accounting firm. In the later 1970's, Marilyn began working for Otter Tail Power Company in accounting, and later assumed the role of purchasing manager. During her last years at Otter Tail, Marilyn was an analyst for the CAPX2020 project, retiring in 2009, having worked there for thirty-two years.
She was passionate about her flower garden, yard work, and cars. Doug and Marilyn traveled often, taking several trips to Yellowstone Park and enjoyed yearly trips to Deadwood, South Dakota for the "Kool Deadwood Nights" annual car show and auction, along with friends they made in the "Uninviteds Car Club".
Marilyn was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, where she was active with the Catholic Daughters, volunteered for cleaning, fish fry's, and the fall festival; and was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
Most important to Marilyn was her family and friends, and especially in recent years, Marilyn enjoyed the ability to visit her mother frequently. She will be dearly missed.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Doug, of Fergus Falls; daughter, Nikki (Cory) Wald of Elizabeth; four brothers, Mike (Carol) Ehlert of North Branch, MN, Myron (Sue) Ehlert of Breckenridge, Wayne Ehlert of Waco, Texas, and Kevin Ehlert of Kent, MN; a sister, Eloise (Roger) Abel of Breckenridge; her mother, Ann Ehlert of Kent; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Victor.
Visitation: 5 – 7 PM Sunday, October 12, 2014, with a 6:30 PM Rosary, followed by parish prayers, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls. Visitation resumes one hour prior to services at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 AM Monday, October 13, 2014, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Fergus Falls.
