Marlene Thelma (Grove) Sayre was born to Orien and Thelma (Lund) Grove on November 4, 1939 near Holmes City, Minnesota.
Baptized at home in Christian Faith, she attended Pocket Lake Country School. She was confirmed at Lincoln Lutheran Church in Hoffman.
After going to live with family, Lester and Verna Grove, she attended and graduated from Evansville High School in 1958.
After graduating she and her close friends moved to St. Paul and worked at Midway Hospital. There is where she started a lifelong love of working in healthcare and caring for others.
She met her husband-to-be, Richard Sayre, on a blind date. They were married at Lincoln Lutheran Church September 2, 1961. They started their life together and made their first home in St. Paul. They moved back to the west central area to raise their family.
Marlene was a hard worker and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She worked at many places including Crestview Manor, Evansville Public School, Faith Lutheran Church, and Evansville Senior Center to name a few. She also volunteered when she could at different organizations including Evansville Art Center.
Her family and friends were very important to her; her children and grandchildren were her everything. Her family will remember her apple pies, rhubarb dessert and strawberry rhubarb jam, all made with love.
