Mary Johnson

January 28, 1926 — May 28, 2012

Mary Ann E. Johnson, age 86, of Fergus Falls, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012 at the Broen Home, Fergus Falls.

Mary Ann Johnson was born on January 28, 1926, the daughter of George and Esther Johnson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mary Ann later moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Fergus Falls where she was a long time member. As a young girl, Mary Ann enjoyed visiting her cousins in Nome and Powers Lake, ND and also cousins in Minneapolis. It was special to ride the street cars in the cities and to attend the Minnesota State Fair.

Mary Ann graduated from Washington High School in Fergus Falls in 1944. Mary Ann's favorite subject was learning German. Mary Ann had an unusual, wonderful memory. Mary Ann never seemed to forget a name.

After graduation Mary Ann worked as a bookkeeper for a couple of businesses. She also worked at the Woolen Mills in Fergus Falls. Mary Ann and Ethel loved little kids and did quite a lot of baby sitting. Mary Ann moved into the Broen Home in Fergus Falls in 1975 where she resided until her death. Mary Ann was very close to her sister Ethel and they were always together. When Ethel died in 1992, Mary Ann took it very hard and seldom ventured out of the home after that. As Mary Ann grew older it became very uncomfortable for her to be around people. Mary Ann loved to read and read her Bible regularly and other Christian books plus listened and/or watched Christian programs. Mary Ann loved the Lord and longed, for many years, to go home and be with the Lord. We can celebrate with her today. She is probably very comfortable in a large crowd singing Hallelujah and praising Jesus. Mary Ann always talked about going to Heaven and seeing her sister, Mom and Dad and many dear friends.

Mary Ann is survived by one brother, LeRoy Johnson of Perham, Minnesota and two Nephews, Allan of San Jose, CA and Glenn of Cold Spring, MN and One Niece, Linda Barvels of Perham.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her sister Ethel in 1992 and her parents.
