MaryLou Hazel Sanders, 69, of Fergus Falls, MN, died June 24, 2011 at her home.
MaryLou was born on July 24, 1941 in Fergus Falls, MN, the daughter of Lenville and Odella (Baker) Schumann. She was raised on a farm near Rothsay, MN and educated in Breckenridge, MN. MaryLou married Robert Duane Sanders on October 8, 1961 in Breckenridge, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in Breckenridge, MN and Fairmount, ND. MaryLou was a homemaker and during her working career, she was a CNA at St. Catherine's Care Center in Wahpeton. She also worked for Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative and as a home health care provider where she cared for terminally ill patients. Upon her retirement, MaryLou resided in Wahpeton, when her health failed she moved to Fergus Falls, MN where she lived until her death. MaryLou enjoyed cooking, canning and watching QVC, cooking shows and playing Bingo. She also enjoyed family get-togethers, her weekly visits to the Hutterites Colony to do her shopping. She especially loved to entertain and visit with her family and friends. MaryLou was a very hard worker and was passionate about her family and friends. She was a very dedicated mother. She raised her children mostly on her own and often made personal sacrifices for her children.
MaryLou is survived by her five children: Sally and Kirby Hahn of Wahpeton, ND, Gary and Marcy Sanders of Linton, ND, Michael and Valerie Sanders of Hankinson, ND, Cindy and Rory Leinen of Breckenridge, MN and Kim and Mark Armstrong of Fergus Falls, MN; three grandchildren: Page Armstrong, Rylan Sanders and Emma Sanders; two step grandchildren: Travis and Amber Hahn of Brainerd, MN and Adam and Amy Hahn of Austin, TX; two great grandchildren: Harper and Hayley Hahn; a niece and three nephews and her friends at Riverview Heights in Fergus Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters: Donna Sichmeller and Jean Odell Schumann.
Private family graveside will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Wahpeton, ND at a later date.
