Melford Moe

Melford Moe, 87, of Fergus Falls died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Broen Home.

Melford Peder Moe was born on December 29, 1929, in Oscar Township of Otter Tail County, Minnesota of Norwegian heritage the son of Magnus and Petra (Stuvland) Moe. He was baptized and confirmed in Rothsay and attended Rothsay grade school. After school he helped on the family farm and attended Diesel Mechanic School.  In 1948, Melford entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Camp Rucker, Alabama serving during the Korean Conflict.

On March 28, 1953, he married Anabel E. Berg at the Zion Lutheran Church of Fergus Falls.  The couple farmed until moving into Fergus Falls in 1985.  Melford worked for the State of Minnesota at the Fergus Falls State Hospital as a Technician for 27 years.  His hobbies include woodworking, NASCAR, mowing the lawn and traveling by car as long as he’d make it back home that day.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Harvey; son-in-law Virgil Stich; and grandson, Adam Keimig.

He is survived by his wife, Anabel of Fergus Falls; six children. Bradley Moe, Deborah Stich, Harvey (Rebecca) Moe, JoAnne (Donald) McQuesten, David Moe all of Fergus Falls, and Dianne (Larry) Keimig of Hammond, WI; 14 grandchildren, Brandy, Amanda, Ashley, Boe, Nich, Dustin, Shana, Nolan, Cloee, Nettie, Ashlie, Jonathan, Laura, and Zachary; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley (Tom) Hahn of Robbinsdale; and two brothers, Wallace (Mary) of Fergus Falls and Dennis (Sharon) of Eau Claire, WI; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls, with visitation one hour prior to services.
