Mildred Kamrath

Mellie Kamrath, 79 of rural Henning, died Saturday, February 12, 2011, at the Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.





Mildred May Kamrath was born on June 27, 1931, in Ceylon , Minnesota the daughter of Frank L. and Ruby E. (Hall) Howard.   As a child they lived in different places, but mostly Estherville , Iowa .   She was born into a loving family who did so much together, they especially enjoyed singing and playing music.





Mildred and Loren A. Kamrath were married on January 11, 1948.  They farmed by Sherburn, where Mellie drove truck and helped with farm work, they then moved to Herman where they dairy farmed, and around 1979 moved to Henning where they also dairy farmed and where Mellie continued to reside up until the time of her passing.   She also worked off the farm as a waitress and cook.   She knew the first night she met Loren that she would marry him, they worked side by side for many years.  They traveled across the country in their truck, visiting many states and spending time together.  Trucking was like a paid vacation where they did many wonderful things and enjoyed so much together.  Mellie loved to draw, paint, sew, design clothing along with singing and was known to write poems and music.   She loved to design and make quilts and afghans.   Mellie was an active member of St. Paul ’s Lutheran Church .  She had a strong faith in The Lord and a deep love for family and will be dearly missed.
