Mildred Nycklemoe

Mildred Eleanor "Ellie" Nycklemoe, 92, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at Evansville Care Campus, surrounded by family and in the care of Douglas County Hospice.

Ellie was born May 26, 1924 to Mons and Melda(Swenson)Dybevik of rural Battle Lake, Minnesota. She attended rural area elementary school and graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1943. Following graduation from high school Ellie supported the American war effort by working in the ship yards in Portland, Oregon.

She married the love of her life, Leslie Nycklemoe, September 29, 1947 in Battle Lake. To this Union three daughters were born. After their marriage the couple lived in Minneapolis and then moved to their farm in Eagle Lake Township near Ashby, Minnesota.

Ellie was a stay at home mother, helping with the farming operation until the children started school when she worked at both the Ashby and Evansville Nursing Homes. Upon retirement from the farm, the couple built their Dream Home at the "Y" near Ashby. Following the death of her husband in 2000, Ellie moved to the Evansville Senior Living in Evansville, Minnesota.

Not a lover of cold weather, she had the opportunity to spend time during winters with daughters Diane and Bonnie and their families in California. During the summer she enjoyed visiting daughter Joni and her family at their lake home in Detroit Lakes.

Ellie had a great sense of humor and was always noted for her outfits. Everything matched – shoes to jewelry. She loved playing cards and bingo. If there was a whist game going, she was in it.
