Myron Juel Anderson, born December 10, 1941, in Tolna, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on Veterans Day, surrounded by memories and comradeship. The son of Julius and Magna (Urvand) Anderson, Myron grew up in Tolna, where he attended school and excelled as a basketball player.
In 1959, Myron enlisted in the United States Army, serving as an ammunition delivery specialist. Near the end of his service, President Kennedy’s extension for military personnel led to his deployment in Germany, a journey he made by ship. Myron was honorably discharged in 1961, embodying the pride of a family with a strong tradition of military service.
Myron married Bernadine on September 1, 1960, in Tacoma, Washington, where he was stationed. Together, they raised three children: Yvonne, Vicki, and Marlin. Myron worked as a meat processor for many years with Armor’s Meat and Held Beef in West Fargo, North Dakota. In 1987, he and Bernadine moved to Boise, Idaho, where he served faithfully for 15 years at Faith Lutheran Church. Upon retiring, they relocated to Battle Lake, Minnesota. At the time of his passing, Myron was a proud resident of the Fergus Falls Veterans Home, where he enjoyed sharing stories with fellow veterans.
Myron is survived by Bernadine; children Yvonne (Jon) Krabbenhoft, Vicki (Brad) Overby, and Marlin Anderson; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister-in-law, Joan Anderson; and brother-in-law, Larry McMahon and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Magna; his stepfather, Omar Fitcher; and seven siblings, along with their respective spouses.
Myron’s legacy of service, family devotion, and faith will be fondly remembered by those whose lives he touched.
A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Tolna, North Dakota.
