Bernard Scott, 89, of Fergus Falls formerly of rural Battle Lake died Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
Noel Bernard Scott was born on October 9, 1926, the son of Nels A. and Bertha (Steine) Scott. He was baptized and confirmed in the Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, attended Rural School District #14 in Clitherall Township, and then attended the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture in Crookston, Minnesota.
Bernard and Shirley Mae Thorstenson were married on October 18, 1958, in the Trefoldighed Lutheran Church by Rev. Harold Peterson. He continued to operate the family which was in the family since 1876. Bernard raised Registered Jersey dairy cows on his Scottland Jerseys Farm. He was a member of Trefoldighed Lutheran Church, American Dairy Association, DHIA, and the American Jersey Cattle Club. Bernard enjoyed reading and in retirement he knitted caps and scarves for charity.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three children, Gregory (Mary) Scott of Battle Lake; Sarah (Jerry) Juven of Fergus Falls and Katie (Mark) Johnson of Underwood; four grandchildren Heather and Cara Scott and Theo and Sophie Johnson; two sisters, Alice Siira of Brandon and Ella May Gorshe of Mullan, Idaho; and by numerous relatives and friends. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Bertha Scott; two sisters, Harriette Ewert and Olga Scott; one brother, Anders Scott; sister-in-law Ruth Scott; brothers-in-law, Dave Ewert, Wesley Siira, Lou Gorshe and Arvid Thorstenson; and by two grandsons, Jacob and Timothy Scott.
Funeral Services: 1:00 PM, Monday, December 21, 2015, at Trefoldighed Lutheran Church of rural Battle Lake
Visitation: Sunday from 3 to 6 pm with a prayer Service at 5 pm at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and one hour prior to the service at the church.
