Nancy Garcia-Monsant, age 70 of Fergus Falls, Minnesota died Friday morning, April 13, 2012 at Lake Region Hospital.
The daughter of Carlos A Garcia-Monsant and Asiloe Monsant de Garcia, Nancy was born on August 19, 1941 in Caracas, Venezuela. She worked as an executive secretary for IVIC, a scientific research center and for LAGOVEN, a Venezuelan petroleum company. In 2000, she moved to Fergus Falls to live with her daughter's family. She became involved as a volunteer for the children's advocacy program at Someplace Safe and at the Otter Tail County Historical Society. She was especially proud of becoming an American citizen in the summer of 2009. Nancy was known and loved as a deeply compassionate, sharing and loving person.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Chris) Schuelke, Fergus Falls, two sons, Carlos of Caracas, Venezuela and Roberto (Grazia) Sanchez-Vegas, Chicago, Illinois, and three grandchildren Illya and Ariel Schuelke and Roberto Jose Sanchez-Vegas.
