Norman Edward Hanson, 89, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully March 13
th
at the Pioneer Retirement Community in Fergus Falls. Norman was born in Western Township of Otter Tail County on May 3, 1920 to Karl and Clara (Anderson) Hanson. He was united in marriage to Alice Boen in 1942. They raised six children and farmed south of Fergus Falls (Buse and Orwell Townships) for many years. He was later employed by Dornburg Construction, Home Decorators, and International Harvester Implement. He was active in Farmer’s Union and a faithful member of the Augustana Lutheran Church. He loved to fish and hunt, collect old guns and ammo, woodworking and was an avid reader. Most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Clara Hanson, infant brother Reynold, brothers Conrad, Harold and Vernon and son-in-law, Owen Randklev.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Alice of Fergus Falls; son Douglas (Sue Deibner), Mt. Vernon, IA; daughters Dianne (Lawrence Wieser) Hanson, Columbia Heights; Darnell (Allan) Hancock, Brooklyn Center; Joyce (Owen) Randklev, Fergus Falls; Judith (Paul) McClish, Sacramento, CA, and Virginia (James) Hanson of Fergus Falls; sisters Mae (Carl) Youngberg, Louise (Austin) Hokanson; brothers Reynold and Karl, Jr., all of Fergus Falls; grandchildren Sara, Erik, John, Julia, Anthony, Jason, Greta, Jessica, Annie, Angela and Kelly and step-grandchildren, Bonnie and Don and fourteen great grandchildren.
For those who called him “Nummie” he will be remembered as a man who was full of fun and who was always a generous and good neighbor. He will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Visitation: Monday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and will resume for one hour prior to the service at the church.
