Norman Orbeck

Norman J. Orbeck, age 66, of rural Battle Lake passed away suddenly on December 29, 2017, in Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Norm was well-loved by his family and friends for his humor, generosity and caring nature.

He graduated from Washburn High School and attended the University of Minnesota. Norm worked at Super Valu in Hopkins for thirty-two years and retired in 2003.

Norm met the love of his life, Jeanette in 1983. They had a love like no other and not a day went by that he didn’t tell her he loved her and that every day was great because of her. Together, they created the dream life at the lake.

More than anything, Norm loved to make people laugh, he was outgoing and could talk to anyone, whether they wanted to or not.  He loved toying with friends and neighbors, heckling anyone who crossed his path, and wowing us all with his Elvis impersonations. And he enjoyed taking his grandchildren to the corner store in the four wheeler, just to spoil them with ice cream.

Norm is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Jeanette; his children, Michel Waller (Gwen) Bend, Oregon, and Jen McDevitt (David) Burnsville, Minnesota; four grandchildren Arelys, Keegan, Silas, and Connor, sisters Bonnie Batdorf and Nona (Brad) Springer; his granddog, Callie; several nephews and nieces, and many great friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Leone Orbeck and his sister Barbara Israel.

Memorial Service:  1 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Battle Lake, with visitation one hour prior to services

Interment:  Skibtvedt Cemetery, Battle Lake, in the spring
