O. Anderson

June 16, 1925 — September 21, 2016

LeRoy Anderson passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center in Battle Lake, Minnesota at the age of 91 years.

Oscar LeRoy Anderson was born on June 16, 1925 in Battle Lake, the son of Oscar and Anna Louise (Person) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed in Eagle Lake Church in Battle Lake. LeRoy graduated from Battle Lake High School in 1943. On September 9, 1951 LeRoy was joined in marriage to Marian Johnson of Battle Lake. LeRoy and Marian resided on their family farm in Clitherall Township, south of Battle Lake where they were blessed with 6 children, Susan, Orlyn, Kevin, Kristi, Paul and Kerry.

LeRoy was a dairy farmer all his life and worked hard to provide for his family. He worked at the Battle Lake Creamery hauling milk cans, Coast-to-Coast and Farmers Union Oil Cooperative hauling bulk fuel, all in Battle Lake. LeRoy enjoyed his draft horses and did many trail rides and sleigh rides for his family and friends. He participated in many parades with his horses. LeRoy and Marian enjoyed square dancing for many years. After semi-retiring in 1985 they enjoyed doing different wood working projects for the grandkids and great-grandkids, and going to auctions together. LeRoy continued going to auctions with friends and had his own number at the consignment sales. LeRoy also enjoyed gopher trapping and weaving rugs. He loved visiting with people over a cup of coffee. He especially enjoyed talking about farming and collected many pieces of farm equipment. LeRoy also enjoyed a good glass of red wine. All of his family members remember his infectious laugh, great sense of humor and what a joy he was to be around. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Henning, Sons of Norway in Vining and Battle Lake Senior Citizens.

He is survived by six children: Susan (Russell) Duncan of Henning, Orlyn (Karen) Anderson of Forsyth, Montana, Kevin (Trina) Anderson of Battle Lake, Kristi (Bill) Riestenberg of Fergus Falls, Paul (Diane) Anderson of Terry, Montana and Kerry Anderson of Veblen, South Dakota; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Amy (Donny) Porter, Morgan, Sydney, Chucky, Emma and Isaac of Park River, North Dakota, Chris Walker, Kenzie and Kaliyah of Osakis, Holly (Jason) Tegels, Jalin, Josiah, Jazmyn and baby on the way of Sauk Centre, Heidi (Drew Schultz) Duncan of Fargo, Rusty Duncan of Battle Lake, Jesse (Amy) Duncan and Ian of Savage, Tanya (Everett) Ligtenberg and Bryston of Malta, Idaho, Mike (Shanda) Anderson, Ashlen, Hailey, Peyton, Samantha and Madilyn of Forsyth, Montana, Jamie (Jeron) Buchholz, Katrina, Jordan, Parker and JT of Brandon, Kimberly Anderson of Alexandria, Tracy (Cimmeron) Gahm, Hailey, Kenzie and Daizee of Morris, Cody (Alli) Anderson and Owen of Battle Lake, Katie (Alex) Mehs and baby on the way of Hatton, North Dakota, Allison (Landon) Neuleib and baby on the way of Rothsay, Emily (Ken) Martin, Summer, Hunter and baby on the way of Rothsay, Laura (Derek) Driessen and Jessa of St. Leo and Kayla (fiancé Tyson Norman) Riestenberg of Fergus Falls; his sister: Anna Lou Odegard of Pelican Rapids; by numerous relatives and friends.
