Patrick Johnson, 50 of Vining died Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
Patrick Arthur Johnson was born on March 17, 1966, in Onamia, Minnesota the son of Roy and Amy (Lind) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in Vining Lutheran Church. He attended the Henning Public School and graduated from the Onamia High School in 1984. He did an early enlistment in 1983, with the US Army, and after graduation, entered active duty and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington and then at Fort Polk in Louisiana, becoming an Airborne Ranger and was Honorably Discharged in 1987.
Patrick and Carol Grimsgard were married on July 15, 1989, in the Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in the Twin Cities area and in 1994, they moved to their home in Vining. Patrick was employed in electronics, Domino's Pizza, Grand Casino and in 1999, was disabled. He loved his coffee, enjoyed mowing lawn, loved caring for his tropical fish, and would go to the creek on the farm and catch fish bare handed. He had a strong faith, loved his family, was a strong advocate for children and found good in everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; three sons, Josh (fiancée, Heather) Johnson of St. Cloud, Trevor Johnson of Fargo and Blake (special friend, Amber) Johnson and Lexi of Henning and by a very special child, Leaon and by many other children who called him Uncle Pat; father, Roy (Dona) Johnson of Green Valley, Arizona; eight siblings, Edie (Mike) Sonnek of Foreston, Randy (Pam) Johnson of Blaine, Floyd (Chris) Johnson of Fergus Falls, Tina (Troy) Rubink of Underwood, Amy Lou (Brad) Lifer of Cook, Diane (Roy) Thorp of Phoenix, Az., Gordon (Holly) Bachmeyer of Princeton and Jackie Bachmeyer of Sibley, Iowa; and by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. Patrick was preceded in death by his mother, Amy Wilson and step-father, Leslie Wilson.
