Paul Guddal, 80, of Fergus Falls, MN, died on Monday, April 20, 2015, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls.
Paul LeRoy was born March 17, 1935, in Kelliher, Minnesota the son of Peter Salve and Ruth Effie (Sanders) Guddal. Shortly after birth, Paul was placed with step parents, including Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Sullivan, Beatrice (Morris) Gilbertson and Florence (Max) May. When he was 14 he was baptized and confirmed at a Lutheran Church. Paul was blest to live with beautiful families and attended school District # 57 at rural Nymore through the eighth grade. He also attended Oak Hills Bible School at Pinewood.
He worked for 12 years in farming near Solway, Minnesota and joined the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years serving in Bemidji. At the age of 17 he accepted Jesus as his Savior and at 19 was filled with the Holy Spirit. He became a resident of the Fergus Falls State Hospital where he was blest and ministered to many people, and was instrumental in making sure that every ward had a bible. Paul faithfully worked at the West Central Turkey Plant for 35 years and was also the caretaker for Lakeview Cemetery in Pelican Rapids.
Paul is dedicated to winning souls, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He ministers to as many as 13 Nursing Homes in the area monthly and attends several churches. Over the years, he has sponsored 10 children through World Vision and Paul spent 17 days in Korea visiting the children. He has lovingly cared for a number of adopted dogs.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Peter and Ruth, also his step parents; two sisters, Mayme Kramer and Agnes Kudlo, two brothers, Samuel and Thomas along with a boy and girl who died in infancy.
His family includes his sister, Alice "Mary" Kudlo; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of beautiful friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army or World Vision.
Funeral Service: 11 AM Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, with visitation one hour prior to services.
Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, MN
