Pauline Quinn

December 10, 1918 — January 16, 2016

Pauline Anne Quinn, 97, of Evansville, MN, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the Evansville Care Campus.

The oldest daughter of six, Pauline Anne, the daughter of Peter and Justine (Weber) Weydert, was born on December 10, 1918 in Bode, Iowa. The family moved to New Richland, MN when Pauline was 1 ½ years old and moved back to Whittemore, Iowa at 9 years of age where she attended Whittemore Academy Catholic School. Following high school graduation in 1936, Pauline attended Cherokee Catholic College in Cherokee, Iowa. She acquired her Teachers Certificate and taught for three years at a K-8 country school in Iowa.

On June 5, 1939, she married her beloved, Lester Ellsworth Quinn, in Sheridan, Wyoming. The couple had four children: Sharon, Gary, Lester and Craig. They relocated from Iowa to a farm near Brandon in 1958 where Lester and Pauline farmed and raised livestock. Pauline taught from 1966-1969 at Millerville Catholic School and substitute taught for 12 years in Brandon. Her love for the "little ones" was evident to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the many children she impacted throughout her teaching career. She was also an active member of Brandon's St. Ann's Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers group.

Pauline preferred the outdoors and faithfully walked every day, loved farming with Lester, gardening and particularly growing flowers. Some other hobbies she enjoyed included dancing, quilting, playing cards, "fancy work"(embroidery), and baking delicious pies. Most of her grandchildren have priceless quilts that she created as baby and graduation gifts. Pauline spent her last years at Evansville Assisted Living and Evansville Care Campus where she made many friends including staff and residents.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Lester; her siblings, Marvin, Simon Weydert, Grace Jones and her son-in-law, Henry Jacobsen.

She is survived by her four children: Sharon (Rodney) Kolle of Tyler, MN, Gary (Eme) Quinn of Evansville, MN, Lester (Kathy) Quinn of Hudson, WI, and Craig (Denise) Quinn of Evansville, MN; her two sisters, Barbara (Bill) Halliday of Osage, IA, Jacquline Quinn of Ventura and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Mergen of Estherville, IA. In addition, her "precious" 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will greatly miss her.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the Evansville Care Center Activities Department or the Douglas County Hospice.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2015, from 5-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. at the Glende-Nilson Funeral Home in Evansville.
